Three Killings

The “three killings” is a direct translation from the Chinese term San Sha and an energy to take into great consideration in your execution of feng shui. This three killings are three different malignant energies including Sui Sha, Zai Sha and Jie Sha. Together they represent a negative directional force of Feng Shui.

Sui Sha translates to the ‘annual’ sha and can create unfriendly impediments to your success or forward movement in life. Zai Sha is the calamity Sha, known to invite disaster or unfortunate accidents creating times of great distress. Jie Sha is the robbery sha or that which generates unknown motives for malignant crimes committed against you.

In feng shui it is recommended that you sit facing the direction of the three killings, never with your back to it – opposite of what you would do with Tai Sui. This is most particularly in your office, where many of us spend most of our time, so as to avoid their negative impacts on your career and work life. People with their astrological sign in conflict with them should always carry a protection cure.

The three killings sit in the opposite cardinal direction to that of the year’s astrological sign.

What types of disturbances cause negative reactions from the three killings?

There are three. First is earth disturbances. Any type of digging for planting plants, building ponds, roads, irrigation or laying building foundations should not be carried out in the affected sector of the three killings. Secondly is renovation or repairs. This could be any activity such as hammering, drilling, demolition or dry walling. Any type of disturbance such as this is sure to upset San Sha. Finally is loud noise. Screaming, slamming and blasting of music or other loud sounds are largely advised to be kept to a minimum in the zone afflicted by the feng shui three killings.

Observing their presence allows one to plan ahead in their moving and renovation scheduling for the home because of the limitations to areas where disturbances can be caused. Feng Shui cures, such as the 3 Celestial Guardians and metallic 3 Divine Guardians windchimes are specially designed to counteract the negative energies of the three killings. These are especially useful for areas that are regularly used and cannot be relocated due to the three killings. If your maindoor, family room, bedroom or horoscope sign is afflicted, you are advised to also carry a 3 Celestial Guardians with Implements Keychain with you at all times.

If your living room or main entrance is located in the direction of the three killings placing a feng shui element there will serve, not only to help appease the negative energy, but to remind you of the location of it so you can be sure to avoid loud noises and disturbance there.

What if there is work being carried out by municipal or other public building projects that is causing disturbance in the direction of the three killings? The traditional remedy is to place a non-moving metal object in between your home and the site of the disturbance. Some schools also recommend the usage of the God of War or Kwan Gong.
