In Chinese culture, the term “monkey on horse” sounds very much like “ma seong hou” which translates as “instantly become better.” For many years, the monkey atop a horse has been used as a feng shui tool as a representation of the potential to instantly increase one’s money and financial luck, thus becoming better in abundance. The statue features a brass monkey atop a horse and is thought to help advance career luck and help the owner to move up the career ladder, overcoming obstacles and striving forward, much as the powerful horse does. This can be especially enhanced when placing the object in the feng shui Northern sector where it can sit confidently on a desk to encourage money luck and good business decisions. Any time is appropriate for displaying the Feng Shui horse statue but it is thought to be even more auspicious during any lunar year of the horse, such as 2014.
